Late Winter Canoe Sledding Expedition Crossing Killarney and the North Channel
A 14-day canoe-sledding, late winter expedition. What was supposed to be a two week snowshoeing trip, became a season transitional trip when mother nature had a new plan for late March. Instead of cancelling the trip, we took advantage of the conditions as an opportunity to grow and learn new skills that we had always wanted to learn more about. Join us for an incredible experience that definitely left us ready for more of this style of travel!
We liked it so much that we are offering a transitional, ice-breaker's expedition again in 2025! Check out the link to our website here:

Using chainsaws, snowmobiles, and the Logosol Mill and Moulder, we produced squared cedar logs for a traditional dovetail sauna. This was our first ever log building project, there were lots of challenges and learning opportunities along the way, but we're pretty happy with how it all turned out! Special thanks to the supporters of this video: Logosol, manufacturer of the mill and moulder seen ...

We're milling Eastern White Cedar timbers for a square log sauna! The logs will be milled to 4" thick and various heights, and then a rounded profile will be molded on the logs. In this video I provide a few tips on maximizing your timber sizes when chainsaw milling with the Logosol. The mill is a Logosol F2, the saw is a Stihl MS661. www.logosol.ca/store/en/sawmills/chain-sawmills/ #LogosolAmb...

I show my very simple technique to ensure you get a perfect final cut, every time, with your Logosol mill. This video is focused on cutting 1" boards, but this same logic can be applied to boards of any thickness as well as bevel boards. I was using the Logosol F2 sawmill with Stihl MS661 saw. You can find the mill in Canada at: www.logosol.ca/store/en/sawmills/chain-sawmills/f2-chain-sawmill/

We take our new Logosol F2 sawmill out on a remote milling adventure. We had taken these trees down at an island cottage property the month before to make way for a solar installation. We produced a variety of lumber including 3" thick slabs for benches and tables, 1" thick boards for siding, live edge bevel siding and 4 x 4 posts. The F2 (logs up to 20") can be found at: www.logosol.ca/store/e...

Was a weird winter, crazy mild ice was all over the place. Hear a few people went through on their sleds, people take for granted how fast things can go from fun to bad.

OMG!!! No words... or too many at once. Just when I thought you guys couldn't get any more amazing, you just go and do THIS. Once more in love with your spirit, your continued working with the elements as they present, trying out new ways, as safely as possible, and getting better with every experience. I remember my first backcountry canoe trip, with my first portage (what do you mean I have to carry the canoe over this rocky hill?), then I remember my first winter trekking with you guys (Oh, we don't just walk on flat, frozen lakes? We still have to portage?? With a sled???), and now I see you sliding on and off ice in canoes and then portaging a packed, sledded canoe... no words, just a very wide smile and an even bigger pull to get back outdoors asap! Love you, stay safe and thank you for the videos!

Hi Kielyn , I .know this is old news..but I didnt watch these shows until they became re-runs. I started watching them after I broke my leg. But I just wanted to say...I did not endure the Artic..but I was homeless and my life was falling apart at that time. I felt emotionally numb. BUT WHEN YOU CAUGHT THAT FISH....and you genuinely were dancing for joy....you touched my very soul, and it did something good to my heart. God works in mysterious ways. I just wanted to let you know how much your life affected mine. God bless you.

While Amos is a good dude, shooting the fox made my blood boil..I have had foxes in every camp I've ever had in the far north, it's good luck..You should know animal behavior wherever you agree to go and hunt..Some places seeing a fox during the day up close would be a warning sign, but not in the north or Africa...There is no danger from that fox what-so-ever, he was just looking for a sharing human, because alot of humans share, it's in our DNA..And I don't think I could go live in the country that destroyed my country..But that is more complicated when you have children..

When my mom bought a very nice, real pair of sherpa, leather sole ankle high house shoes for my dad, ...... Very first thing she did was take them to shoe repair guy, so he could take a little thicker soft sole, & he sewed it onto the bottoms, in addition to the soles .... Well, my dad just passed away, (9/2023) that pair was still in like-new condition! Dad wore them 8 (3PM - 11PM) hours every day since he was 44 years old. That was 43 years ago. If HIGH QUALITY supplies are used, they'll be appreciated, & worn a lifetime! ❤ 👍 🇺🇲

I've yet to see a definitive statement about the relative friction of these two plastics on snow. Long experience in the ski industry suggests that uhmw must be better, but a key difference is that skiing is conducted at velocities that are not relevant to winter hauling, and velocity can make a huge difference in how much micro-melting occurs. However, it looked like this test was conducted on snow that had been tracked in and sintered for hours or days before the test. I think it would have been worth the extra effort to perform the test on a fresh float, because that's all that matters on a long-haul trip. Electric winch with one of those little hanging load scales would be the way to go, as noted below.
